Volunteers & Community

The community is an integral part of King Island Landcare group activities, our projects are only successful due to volunteer participation. If you want to be involved in any project, contact us or check our Facebook page for current events.

Projects you can get involved in:

King Island native plant nursery – run by volunteers and available for community and individuals to use. Keep a lookout on our facebook page for updates. Renae can be contacted by email kilgnursery@gmail.com

Wings on King – coordinated island wide bird surveys at over 50 sites every April and October
Currie Wharf Bush Restoration – this highly successful project will be continued by KILG volunteers, and staff as resources allow. Everybody is welcome to contribute.
Administration and policy – all welcome to the monthly meetings usually held at KIRDO second Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm.

Funding Opportunities

If you are interested in doing a project on your property to improve and protect your vegetation, soil, water quality, to look after threatened species or just find out about what is on your property, contact us. We can help apply for funding or point you in the right direction.
